Sue Naught-Teacher

Let me take this opportunity to introduce myself to the new Little Sprouts community.

My name is Sue Naught (sometimes called Suzi) and I presently live in Bella Vista. I moved here four years ago with my husband who had accepted a new position within the Bentonville area. We moved from Cleveland, OH where I taught K thru 5th grade for six years.

I was raised in Bisbee, Arizona and I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education accompanied by a minor degree in Art Education. I also have completed some graduate studies in Special Education at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, GA.

Teaching has taken me to several major cities in the midwest and south. Among them are Chicago, IL, Atlanta, GA, Memphis, TN. Lexington, KY and Charleston, SC. My work experience is extensive, ranging from PreK thru 8th grade. Preschool is my all time favorite class to teach. As parents, I’m certain you will agree that early childhood is the most teachable, loveable age there is.

I look forward to being a part of Little Sprouts Learning Center and together, we will have a fabulous year watching your lil’ sprouts grow!

Our Class Pet. . .

We have a new classroom "pet" who is teaching the students about predictions and measurement. This magical alligator grows when he is in water and the kids LOVE him . . .
and we don't even have to feed him : )

This is what he looks like today, but he didn't start out this way. As you can see, he is over a foot long.

The Mighty Sprouts meet him for the first time and everyone gets a chance to touch him : )

Next, they measure him and make predictions about how much he will grow when they put him in his new home (the jar of water).

Fast forward a week and the Mini Sprouts get to see how much he has grown. They can't believe it! It's amazing! He is now over a foot long and no longer fits in his "jar" home.

And they all get a turn at touching him before he goes to his new home. . . the sink : )

"Chicken Soup With Rice"

Ms. Sue was eager to share one of her favorite books with the class this week.
"Chicken Soup With Rice" is a classic months-of-the-year rhyme by Maurice Sendak. We had a hard time finding a copy of this book for our class, but to our surprise, it is available in the Scholastic book order this month. Contact us if you are interested in ordering a copy for only $3!

It all started with the book

Ms. Sue read it aloud to the students as they waited for their snack. . .

Along came Ms. Julie with what they had been waiting for. . .

"I told you once, I told you twice. All seasons of the year are nice for eating chicken soup with rice."

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow!

We are having fun this month with the "Snow" theme!

Our Classroom "snow" friend

All the ingredients to make a snowman. . .

Hmmm. . . What day will it snow?

Some snowflake artwork

Some super-cute snowmen : )
